A few notes from the bus...

Here I sit on bus #1, we’ve just left the Clifton Hills rest station, where we had lunch. Needless to say, most of us are already disappointed with roadside food.

Due to some confusion about where the tour guides were going to be, we picked up Lydia and Tim at Yonge and York Mills, and then on to Mississauga where we said goodbye to Randy, but not before I spilled a coffee down his back in an attempt to avoid being pitched thru the front window during a sudden stop.

So, having learned my lesson about walking around during travel, we settled in for the haul to the border. The first movie, The Incredibles, gave way to Hardball, starring Canoehead Reeves. We also stopped at Casablanca Road for our first break.

Our border crossing went unbelievably smoothly, along with a smiling, pleasant border guard, a personal first. Everyone behaved impeccably and we had no trouble at all. Our initial plan to stop at a mall food court for lunch went out the window due to how far behind schedule we are, but we’re moving right along now. We’ve been traveling thru some rain, leading me to realize how I’ve packed entirely for warm, sunny weather. Oh well.

6:45 pm.

We are now in the garden state, progressing nicely towards the hotel, albeit in a driving rain. We made another stop at a rest stop, where the vending machines received a nice workout. We are hoping for an arrival fairly soon, hopefully in time to have our pizza (which is sounding really good) along with an Edmonton victory in game 7.

Best laugh of the day – Patrick, seemingly asleep, raising fingers one by one. The teachers laughing louder and louder until he finally looked up, wondering what was so funny. Turns out he was counting something in the rap he was listening to. Reading this over, I guess you had to be there, but trust me, it was funny.

We gave up on Fun with Dick and Jane about halfway thru without objection from anyone (bad movie), and Mr. Carroll really wanted to watch Troy, which we likely won’t get through before we arrive.

So far, we’re having fun. We saw the point in the Delaware that George Washington crossed – now we have to look for the painting in the Met.

We’re currently working on learning how to count to 42 – the number of kids on the bus, one number each.
